In the first lag of a home-and-home weekend series, the Rangers hosted the Milton Red Sox. Milton held the lead from the 4th inning onward until Rangers cashed in their last at-bats. Final score in the thriller was 8-7 Etobicoke.

The Rangers started Andrew Hyde in this one. He was sharp, having his best appearance of the young season throwing a clean two innings surrendering just one hit while picking up three strikeouts. In the bottom of the 2nd the Rangers used three hits including an RBI single by C Kyle Bowers to hit the scoreboard first. Brent Cleland came on to relieve Hyde with a clean 1-2-3 third. The Rangers added another run in the bottom half to lead 2-0.

In the top of the fourth the Milton bats came to life, stringing together five hits and a walk to score three runs off of Cleland. Cleland struck out three Red Sox. Brad Crone came on in relief of Cleland in the 5th and settled in for two innings of two hit ball with four strikeouts of his own. The Rangers bats re-took the lead in the home half, finally getting to Red Sox starter Chris Cloes with a pair of runs highlighted by 3B Ryan Panas RBI double.

The score was 4-3 for the home team heading to the 7th. Red Sox bats struck right back off of veteran Ranger Reliever Kevin Breitner using two hits and an error to push two runs across. The Rangers went quietly in the home half of the 7th, followed by a quick 1-2-3 top 8th by reliever Kyle Angelow, and another shutdown bottom 8th by the Red Sox reliever Brendan Ellingham. Angelow surrendered a pair of runs in the 9th at a poor time, giving up a two RBI single to extend the deficit to 7-4.

It came down to the Rangers bats in the bottom of the 9th - and the Rangers bats came through. A scrappy lineup put the ball in play to work their way on and around the bases. The three run, game tying, inning was highlighted by a clutch pinch-hit RBI double by RF Brandon Costa. Angelow (1-0) was given another chance to shut the door in the top of the 10th and did just that with a clean 1-2-3.

In bottom 10th, SS Mike Ferracuti, followed by Kyle Bowers executing a sac bunt that the opposing pitcher threw into centre field advancing Ferracuti to third. The 9th inning pinch hit hero Costa returned to the dish with a chance to win it this time. With the infield in, Costa drove a fastball up the middle for the winning RBI.
