Cards Take Back Half of Home & Home with Oakville

After a tough 2-1 loss in Oakville, the Cardinals got their bats rolling as they pounded out 13 hits in a 10-4 victory over Oakville at Erindale Cardinal Field. The Cardinals got things rolling early as they scored three runs in the 3rd inning and follwed that up with single runs in the 4th and 6th innings to take a 5-0 lead.  

 

Oakville plated three runs in the 7th inning to cut the Erindale lead down to 5-3 but a pair of runs in the 7th inning follwed by a 3-run 8th inning stetched the lead back out to 10-3. Oakville pushed one more run across in the 9th inning leading to the 10-4 final.

 

Aaron Palmer led the Cards at the plate going 3-for-5 with a double, a run, a pair of RBI and a stolen base. Pip Murray-Smith was 2-for-5 with a walk, a run, and RBI and a pair of stolen bases while Chris Novia was 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Dylan Goulah (RBI) and Dylan Johnson (2B, 2 RBI) each had a hit while Mike Caleb was 1-for-5 with a walk, a run and an RBI.

 

Kevin Lucas drew the starting assignement for the Cardinals. He went six shutout innings allowing only one hit in collecting the win. He walked four while striking out three batters. Sebastian Santos went one inning in relief allowing three runs on two hits. He walked a pair while striking out one. Andrew Mullin also threw an inning in relief allowing no runs or hits. He hit two batters and had one strikeout. Dan Estey threw the 9th inning allowing an unearned run on one hit and struck out a pair.

 

With the win, Erindale moves to 2-6 on the season. The Cards are now off until Friday night when they will make the trek to Connorvale Park and a date with the league leading Etobicoke Rangers. First oitch is slated for 7:30pm and Dan Estey will draw the starting assignment in this game.
