The Erindale Cardinals made their only trip to the Milton Sports Center yesterday as they played a pair of games against the Red Sox winning game one 5-2 before dropping the back half 4-1.

In game one, Milton opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st inning as they plated a run on a walk, hit batter and an error to take a 1-0 lead. Erindale finally broke their goose egg in the 5th inning as they plated three runs chasing the Milton starter and taking a 3-1 lead. The Cardinals would add two more insurance runs in the 7th inning and would hang on for the 5-2 win.

Jay Woodford led the 7-hit attack for Erindale going 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs. Aneil Birsa was 2-for-2 with a walk and a pair of runs while Johnny Dewolfe was 1-for-4 with a run and a pair of RBI. Pip Murray-Smith was 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI while Dylan Johnson was 1-for-2 with an HBP and a run scored. Milton managed three hits with Matt Lahn and Steve Lauzon collecting RBIs.

On the hill, Evan Harrison masterful as he carried a no-hit bid into the 6th inning. He went the distance on the hill allowing two runs while walking two and striking out seven in collecting his 3rd win of the year. Tyler MacKillop took the loss for Milton allowing three runs over five innings.

In game two, Milton returned the favour as 2018 League MVP Jason Schneider kept the Erindale bats at bay all game long. The Cards opened the scoring in the 3rd inning with a run on an RBI ground out. Both pitchers were cruising until the 5th inning when Milton finally put a dent in the Erindale armour as they scored four runs on a pair of hits and a trio of errors. Schneider shut the door the rest of the way leading to the 4-1 Milton win.

It was a light game at the plate for Erindale as they only managed three hits. Murray-Smith was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored while Steve Gallant was 1-for-3. Adrina Butrimas was 1/2 with an HBP while Woodford was 0-for-2 with a RBI groundout. Kevin Greer was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI while Brett Medland had a 2-run single to led the Milton offense.

Sebastian Santos took the tough loss for Erindale as he went five innings allowing four runs (two earned) on two hits. He walked one batter while striking out eight Red Sox batters. Adam Forsey had a clean 6th inning allowing only a hit and striking out one.

With the split, Erindale now sits at 3-8 on the season and remain in the basement of the Andrews Division. The Cardinals will now continue their busy stretch of games as they will prepare to host the Niagara Metros on Monday night. Game time is slated for 7:30pm at Erindale Cardinal Field and Dan Nauth will draw the starting assignment for Erindale.
