Robert "RJ" Wild, a former pitcher with Hamilton, the Dundas Chiefs, the Glanbrook Grizzlies, and the Burlington Brants in the COBA Major Baseball League, picked up a historic win last week in his baseball career in New Brunswick. The now 56 year old currently plays for the Dalhousie Dodgers of the Miramichi Valley Intermediate Baseball League which features team from the Miramichi area and northern New Brunswick.
On July 22nd, RJ started on th hill vs Tracadie Shelia and absolutely dealt in this game going six innings allowing two runs (both earned) on only four hits. He walked one batter and struck out four in collecting the win. As he left the mound in the sixth, he received a huge standing ovation from the crowd in attendance at the park that day.
Wild collected his first ever win in Sr Baseball here in Ontario in 1988 with the Burlington Brants. With the win on this night, this now gives RJ at least one win in his last five decades of playing Sr Baseball. On behalf of the league and all of your former teammates and friends here in Ontario, congrats RJ on this wonderful accomplishment. Wishing you and your team in Dalhousie success the rest of this season.
