The Milton Red Sox only had one game in COBA Major League action this week as they made the trip into Toronto for a date with the Etobicoke Rangers at Connorvale Park. The Rangers are coming off of a semi-final showing at the Sr AAA Men's Elimination Tournament in Windsor so Milton would have their hands full on this evening.
The visitors got off on the right foot though as the plated a single run in the first inning and followed that up with four more runs in the second inning for a quick 5-0 lead. The Rangers would battle back though as they would plate four runs of their own in the bottom half of the third inning to cut the lead to 5-4.
Milton would extend their lead back to four in the next inning as they pushed across three runs to take an 8-4 lead. They wpuld add single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to extend that lead to 10-4. Etobicoke would make a bit of noise in the home half on the ninth inning putting up three runs but that's as close as they would get as Milton would take this game by a score of 10-7.
Sean Alp would be the big stick on the night for the Red Sox as he would go 4-for-6 with a triple, a pair of runs and three RBIs. Veteran Kevin Greer was 3-for-6 with a double and a pair of RBIs while Nick Tiensovan was 2-for-6 with two RBIs as well. Nick MacKinnon also had a multi hit night going 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI while Nicholas Feren was 1-for-4 with a walk, a pair of runs and an RBI.
Brandon Chong (3B), MacKenzie Storey (3B), Liam Butchereit and Michael Ong (RBI) each had a hit as well to round out the Milton offensive effort on this evening. There were no batting statistics published for the Etobicoke team on the website for this game.
On the mound, COBA Major Sam Bat Pitcher of the Week Chris Cloes was magnificent in picking up his fourth win of the season. He went seven strong innings allowing four runs (one earned) while scattering nine hits. He walked one batter while striking out five.
Dylan Clark would follow going 1 2/3 innings allowing three runs (all earned) on two hits. He walked a pair of batters and struck out one. Joe Giansante got the last out of the game to earn the save. There were no pitching statistics posted on the league site for Etobicoke for this game.
