COBA Major Week XI Recap feat Milton Red Sox
7/27/2023by D. Estey

In a very light week of COBA Major League action (there were only three games) the Milton Red Sox were victorious in their only league outing of the week as they traveled to Teramoto Yellow Field to take on the Brampton Royals.

The Royals struck first in this one as they scored a run in the home half of the 2nd inning for an early 1-0 lead. The Red Sox erased this lead in the 4th inning when they plated a pair of runs to take a 2-1 lead. The teams would trade runs in the 5th inning as Milton took a 3-2 lead into the second half of the game.

Brampton would knot this game up 3-3 in the 7th inning as they were able to push a run across. Both teams would go scoreless the next couple of innings as this game would need extra innings. In the extra frame, Milton would push across three runs to take a 6-3 lead. The Red Sox defense would make that stand as they took this game by that 6-3 score.

Nick Feren led the way offensively for Milton going 2-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI. Brandon Job was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Liam Buckley was 2-for-6 with a run scored. Luke Crowley was 2-for-5 with a walk while Matt Fusco was 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run and a pair of RBIs.

Mike MacKillop was 1-for-3 with a walk while Illias Sahebzada was 1-for-1 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Eric Beharri was 1-for-6 with a run while Michael Ong rounded put the offense with a walk and a run. Sam Lebel led the Brampton offense going 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles while Aidan Murphy was 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of runs.

Chris Cloes drew the start this game for Milton and he went four innings allowing one run (unearned) on five hits. He walked two batters and struckout three. Dylan Clark was next in and he went three innings allowing two runs (both earned) on six hits while walking one and striking out five.

COBA Major League Pitcher of the Week Kyle Clark was next into the game and collected the win going three innings allowing no runs on hit hit and striking out six Royals batters. Arman Lakhani took the hard luck loss for Brampton working an inning allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits while walking one and striking out one.
