2018 Lakeside Tournament Schedule

The following is the schedule + rules for the 2018 Lakeside Lizards Invitational Senior Baseball Tournament. This year's field features 16 teams which come from all four of the major senior baseball leagues in Ontario as well as a team from the US. The defending champion Sarnia Braves Baseball Club will look to defend their tournament title against a very strong field. 2018 LAKESIDE INVITATIONAL RULES

 

Game Length
-Round robin games have a two hour and fifteen minute time limit. Umpires are to note start time with both teams.
-Playoff games have no time limit.
-In the event of a tie, play will continue until a winner is determined
-Exception, 10 run mercy rule will apply after 5 innings (4 1⁄2 with home team ahead) or any subsequent inning.

-An 18-run mercy rule will apply after 3 innings (2 1/2) with the home team ahead) on any subsequent inning.
**NOTE: In the event of rain, the organizers reserve the right to change these rules, including, if necessary including time limits and that games may end in a tie.

 

Designated Hitter
-Permitted for pitcher only.

 

Rosters
-Maximum of 25 players

 

Ejections
-Ejections will be for the game and the next one based on OBA Rules. If a more serious offence is committed, the penalty will be adjusted.

 

OBA Rules
-Except as set out, OBA rules will apply. Rules are the same as for OBA tournaments.

Tie Breaking Rules:
*In tournaments where tie breaking rules are required, the following tie breaking rules will be used for each placement independently:

i. head to head record among tied teams;

ii. team with the smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in games among tied teams;

iii. team with the smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in all games;

iv. team with the highest runs for ratio (runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in games among tied teams;

v. team with the highest runs for ratio ( runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in all games;

vi. coin toss

*When there are 3 or more teams tied, the tiebreakers will commence at 7.3(t)(ii). After the winner of that tie breaker is determined, the tiebreakers will continue, if necessary, at 7.3(t)(ii) as long as there are 3 or more teams tied. When only 2 teams remain, the tiebreaker will start at 7.3(t)(i).
